As CEO Richard is responsible for the leadership of the ACED team. Prior to joining ACED in 2013, he was CEO of Umoya Energy, developer of the Hopefield wind farm (67MW), and of REISA, owner of the Kathu solar PV project (75MW). Since joining ACED Richard has been involved in all of ACED’s REIPPPP Round 3 and Round 4 projects (500MW of wind, 400MW solar PV) as well as ACED’s other interests.
Richard has over 35 years of experience in the planning, design and delivery of large scale multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects (dams, roads, structures), including large scale power generation projects (incl. 1,333MW pumped storage). He has significant experience in project delivery under a range of financing methods, including limited recourse project finance (DBFO, BOOT, BOT etc) within concession structures such as those used by Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Richard has worked as consultant, contractor and developer, and in most of the SADC countries.

Mary joined ACED in 2009 and is involved in all aspects of ACED’s renewable energy portfolio and her key focus areas are managing finance and legal work streams. Mary has overseen the development, bidding and financial close of ACED’s renewable energy portfolio, having personal involvement in some 640MW of wind projects and 400MW of solar PV projects. Mary has also served on the Board of the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA).
Prior to joining ACED, Mary completed her Masters in Energy and Development Studies at the Energy Research Centre at the University of Cape Town. Prior to conducting her Masters, Mary worked for JPMorgan in the Leveraged Finance team in London where she was involved in a variety of infrastructure deals across the energy, water, electricity and gas sectors in Europe.

James joined ACED in January 2012 and is involved in all aspects of ACED’s renewable energy portfolio although key focus areas are business development, procurement and construction contracts and managing the technical-commercial interface. James has overseen the development, bidding and financial close of 500MW of wind projects and 400MW of solar PV projects.
Prior to joining ACED, James was employed at Energy Partners in the business development team. James has a Business Science in Economics with Honours from the University of Cape Town and a Master’s of Science from University of Oxford.

Stephnie joined ACED in early 2016 and is responsible for managing the environmental, land and permitting aspects of ACED’s projects to ensure compliance with local requirements and international best practice, IFP Performance Standards and Equator Principles. She has done this for 400MW of ACED projects.
Prior to joining the ACED development team, Stephnie worked as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner in both the public & private sector. Stephnie has managed the environmental impact assessments for over 800MW of renewable energy projects (both wind and solar PV).
Project & Contract Manager

Warren is a senior project manager involved in the delivery and execution of ACED’s renewable energy portfolio, with a strong focus on project and construction management. He is currently responsible for the delivery of three utility scale solar PV projects amounting 210MW in South Africa, with commercial operations in 2019 / 2020.
Warren has over 25 years of post-graduate experience in engineering, and project management in the energy sector. Prior to joining ACED, Warren worked on the 50 MW Bokpoort CSP Project for ACWA Power and on the Ankerlig Gas Turbine and Medupi Coal Projects (amongst others) for Eskom.
Project & Contract Manager
B.Eng (Civil Eng), Pr CPM
Mariana is a senior project manager involved in the delivery and execution of ACED’s renewable energy portfolio, with a strong focus on project and construction management. She is currently responsible for the delivery of three utility scale solar PV projects amounting 180MW in South Africa, with commercial operations in 2020 / 2021.
Prior to joining ACED, Mariana was the Project Manager for Nordex working on the Amakhala, Kouga and Dorper Wind Farms. Mariana has over 25 years of PM experience, including working on the Pebble Bed Nuclear, Discovery Telescope and SALT, all very prestigious large scale complex projects.
Pikwe joined ACED in 2009 and is responsible for providing co-ordination and administrative support to the ACED team. Additional to this, Pikwe looks after landowner and stakeholder liaison as well as ad hoc assistance on the numerous and varied aspects of development work such as applications to government departments, project submissions and presentations and maintaining of permits and licenses. She has been intimately involved in the successful delivery by ACED of over 700MW of wind and over 400MW of solar PV projects.
